Three students were killed on Thursday when a car rammed into students who were walking home after school near Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district.
There is a government higher secondary school in Karakottai on the Mannargudi–Thanjavur main road.
The three students studying there — Yogeswaran (12), son of Murugesan from Colony Street in the same area; Rasith (12), son of Mukesh from Veera Colony; and Rajamurali (12), son of Ramesh from Indira Colony — were walking along the roadside near the school on Thursday evening after school hours ended, on their way home.
At that time, a car driven at high speed by Ulaganathan (51), son of Kuppusamy from Kalaignar Colony, Lakshmangudi, Koothanallur taluk, while under the influence of alcohol, rammed into three students, and the injured Rajamurali died at the scene.
The other two were rescued, but they too died on the way to Mannargudi Government Hospital for treatment.
In this regard, based on the complaint filed at the Vaduvur police station, the police have registered a case and arrested car driver Ulaganathan for questioning.

மற்ற இருவரையும் மீட்டு, சிகிச்சைக்காக மன்னார்குடி அரசு மருத்துவமனைக்கு கொண்டு செல்லும் வழியில் பலியாகினர்.
இது குறித்து, வடுவூர் காவல் நிலையத்தில் அளிக்கப்பட்ட புகாரின் பேரில், போலீஸார் வழக்குப் பதிந்து கார் ஓட்டுநர் உலகநாதனை கைது செய்து விசாரணை செய்து வருகின்றனர்.
