Congress senior leader P. Chidambaram visited the office of the Communist Party of India and met the party’s state secretary, Veerapandian.
Reports have emerged that P. Chidambaram has been trying to bring the Left parties into the alliance. Speaking to reporters after this meeting, he said, "I met the leaders of the Communist Party of India, especially state secretary Veerapandian, purely as a courtesy visit."

அதன் பிறகு செய்தியாளர்களைச் சந்தித்த சிபிஐ மாநிலச் செயலாளர் வீரபாண்டியன், “த.வெ.க இப்போதுதான் அதிகாரத்திற்கு வந்திருக்கிறார்கள். கொடுத்த வாக்குறுதிகளை நிறைவேற்ற வேண்டும். அதற்கு கால அவகாசம் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளலாம். ஆனால் சட்டம் ஒழுங்கை உடனடியாகச் சரிசெய்ய வேண்டும்.
யாராக இருந்தாலும் ஊடகங்களை, பத்திரிகைகளைக் கடந்து செல்ல வேண்டும் என்பதைத்தான் கம்யூனிஸ்ட் கட்சி வலியுறுத்தும். மதசார்பற்றக் கூட்டணியில் இருந்து வெற்றி பெற்றுதான் த.வெ.கவிற்கு ஆதரவு அளிக்கிறோம்.
இனி நடைபெறும் நாடாளுமன்றத் தேர்தல், சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தல் பற்றி நாளை சிந்திக்கலாம். இப்போது த.வெ.க நல்லாட்சி தர வேண்டும். வெளியில் இருந்து நாங்கள் தவெகவுக்கு ஆதரவு தருகிறோம்.
நாங்கள் இந்தியக் கூட்டணியில் இருக்கிறோம். ஜூன் 8 ஆம் தேதி நடைபெறும் கூட்டத்தில் எங்கள் தேசிய தலைவர்கள் அதில் கலந்துகொள்வார்கள்.
பிரவீன் சக்ரவர்த்தி எங்களை மரியாதை நிமித்தமாகத்தான் சந்தித்தார். ‘நான் வெளியிட்ட பதிவு தவறுதான். அதைப் பெரிதாக எடுத்துகொள்ள வேண்டாம்’ என்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்” என்று கூறியிருக்கிறார்.
