Delta region farmers are worried because the Mettur dam has not been opened, Tamil Maanila Congress leader G.K. Vasan said.
In a statement issued on Friday, he said: Every year, the Mettur dam is opened on June 12. However, since the dam has not been opened now, all Delta farmers are worried.
It is only by relying on the water from the Mettur dam that crops are cultivated on irrigated lands in the districts of Tiruchirappalli, Pudukkottai, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Mayiladuthurai. However, since water has not been released from the Mettur dam now, lakhs of acres of land are in a situation where they cannot receive irrigation facilities.

Therefore, the Tamil Nadu government should take action in a way that does not cause hardship to farmers and the public who depend on Cauvery water.
It has been stated there that it is necessary for the Tamil Nadu government to talk with the Karnataka government and take steps to secure the Cauvery water due to Tamil Nadu and to ensure uninterrupted distribution of three-phase electricity.
