A woman’s body was recovered on Wednesday in the Annur area, wrapped in a sack.
A complaint was filed that a foul smell was emanating from an abandoned well at a closed factory in the Gobi Rasipuram area on the Mettupalayam–Annur road in Coimbatore district.
Following this, firefighters retrieved the sack from the well, and it was found to contain the body of a woman with her hands and legs tied.
In connection with this, Sirumugai police have summoned forensic experts and are conducting an investigation. Police said the body was in a decomposed state, making identification impossible.
Police are investigating the scene with the help of a sniffer dog.
In addition, after the Superintendent of Police inspected the scene, police are conducting an intensive investigation into who the unidentified woman was and who killed her and threw her into the well.
