Anti-corruption police are conducting a raid at the Coimbatore Central Regional Transport Office in the Gandhipuram area of Coimbatore.
This surprise inspection is being carried out based on confidential information that large sums of bribe money are being exchanged through middlemen from the public for various services, including driving licenses, vehicle registration, and fitness certificates.
At present, anti-corruption department officials have locked the main entrance gates of the RTO office, brought the premises under control so that no outsiders can enter, and are conducting intensive checks on all four-wheelers and luxury cars parked inside the office complex.
This swift raid is being carried out intensively from the angle of whether middlemen and officials have hidden their bribe money in the vehicles.
There is currently great excitement in Coimbatore government circles and among Regional Transport Department circles, as it is being said that several lakh rupees in unaccounted cash and important documents may be seized in this raid.
