Technology will lead to progress only if it is democratized, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday.
He said this at a time when the United States had recently imposed a ban on foreigners using Anthropic AI models (Fable 5, Mythos 5).
The ‘VivaTech-2026’ technology conference, considered Europe’s largest technology and innovation summit, was held on Thursday in Paris, the capital of France. Prime Minister Modi attended it along with the country’s President Emmanuel Macron.
He said then: Over the past 10 years, India has recorded tremendous technological growth. From the world’s largest digital identity system to the world’s largest digital transaction platforms, the use of technology has increased manifold across various sectors such as education, financial inclusion, and healthcare. Easy access to technology and innovation should be the primary goal. India’s position is that only when technology is democratized in this way will it lead to growth.
AI for Everyone: Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a technology that can improve people’s quality of life and help create a healthier planet. Recognizing this, India follows the principle of “AI for Everyone.” My participation in this Vivatech conference reflects India’s forward-looking vision.
When I attended the Vivatech conference in 2021, the coronavirus pandemic posed a major threat to the world. Today, countries around the world are facing disruptions in different forms.
I would like to once again remind everyone that where traditions fail, innovation may help.
The India pavilion set up at the Vivatech conference, showcasing 200,000 startups, should be visited by everyone.
Because this pavilion features events that highlight India’s technological progress, including the world’s first 3D-printed rocket engine, advanced genetic engineering treatments, AI technology for detecting cancer, cyber security and website security, robots, and smart cities. With 200,000 startups, India stands as one of the world’s most dynamic countries. Therefore, he said that investments made in India would benefit all countries around the world.
Meeting with the Chairman of CMA CGM:
Prime Minister Modi met and held discussions with various French business leaders and chief executive officers (CEOs) of companies who attended the conference.
As part of this, he met Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and CEO of CMA CGM, and discussed maritime trade, logistics, and supply chain disruptions.
