Elections are scheduled to be held on the 15th for 29 municipal corporations across Maharashtra, including Mumbai. In this election, the BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) are contesting in alliance. Another Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) is contesting in alliance with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. Since Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray are contesting together in this election, the Congress party has withdrawn from the alliance led by Uddhav Thackeray and is contesting independently. The Nationalist Congress Party, led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, has also withdrawn from the BJP alliance and is contesting independently across the state.
The Congress party formed an alliance with Prakash Ambedkar's Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and allocated 62 wards to that party. However, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi did not field candidates in 16 wards. In the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, a total of 2,516 candidates are contesting across 227 wards. Since the seat-sharing negotiations continued until the last moment within the BJP alliance, the candidate selection remained suspenseful until the end. On the final day of nomination filing, 84 percent of the candidates submitted their nominations. Political party leaders paid close attention to securing seats for their wives to contest in the elections. Under the reservation system, some wards have been reserved for women.

மும்பை உட்பட மகாராஷ்டிரா முழுவதும் உள்ள 29 மாநகராட்சிகளுக்கு வரும் 15ம் தேதி தேர்தல் நடக்க இருக்கிறது. இத்தேர்தலில் பா.ஜ.கவும், சிவசேனா(ஷிண்டே)வும் கூட்டணி அமைத்து போட்டியிடுகின்றன. மற்றொரு சிவசேனா(உத்தவ்) மகாராஷ்டிரா நவநிர்மாண் சேனாவுடன் கூட்டணி அமைத்து போட்டியிடுகிறது. உத்தவ் தாக்கரேயும், ராஜ் தாக்கரேயும் இத்தேர்தலில் இணைந்து போட்டியிடுவதால் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சி உத்தவ் தாக்கரே தலைமையிலான கூட்டணியிலிருந்து வெளியேறி தனித்து போட்டியிடுகிறது. துணை முதல்வர் அஜித்பவார் தலைமையிலான தேசியவாத காங்கிரஸ் பா.ஜ.க கூட்டணியிலிருந்து விலகி மாநிலம் முழுவதும் தனித்து போட்டியிடுகிறது.

மனுத்தாக்கலுக்கு கடைசி நாளில் மட்டும் 84 சதவீதம் பேர் வேட்பு மனுத்தாக்கல் செய்தனர். அரசியல் கட்சி தலைவர்கள் தங்களது மனைவிகளுக்கு தேர்தலில் போட்டியிட சீட் வாங்குவதில் தீவிர கவனம் செலுத்தினர். இட ஒதுக்கீடு முறையில் சில வார்டுகள் பெண்களுக்கு ஒதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதையடுத்து அந்த வார்டுகளில் அரசியல் தலைவர்கள் தங்களது மனைவிகளை வேட்பாளர்களாக நிறுத்தி இருக்கின்றனர். பா.ஜ.கவில் தனது மனைவிக்காக சீட் பெற்றுள்ள முன்னாள் கவுன்சிலர் அபிஜித் சாவந்த் இது குறித்து கூறுகையில்,” எனது மனைவி ஆரம்பத்தில் இருந்தே எனது அரசியல் பயணத்தின் ஒரு பகுதியாக இருந்து வருகிறார். நான் வேறு எங்காவது புதிதாக ஒரு இடத்தில் போட்டியிடுவதை விட, எனது மனைவி எனது வார்டில் போட்டியிடுவதுதான் மிகவும் பொருத்தமானது என்று நான் உணர்ந்தேன்,” என்றும் அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.

நாட்டின் மிகப்பெரிய மற்றும் மிகவும் பணக்கார மாநகராட்சியை கைப்பற்றுவது என்பது பா.ஜ.கவின் நீண்ட கால கனவாகும். கடந்த 2017ம் ஆண்டு தேர்தலில் ஒருங்கிணைந்த சிவசேனாவை விட சில வார்டுகள் குறைவாக பெற்றதால் அப்போது பதவியை பிடிக்க முடியவில்லை. எனவே இந்த முறை எப்படியும் மும்பையை பிடித்துவிட வேண்டும் என்பதில் பா.ஜ.க உறுதியாக இருக்கிறது. மும்பை மாநகராட்சியின் பட்ஜெட் ஏறத்தாழ ரூ.75 ஆயிரம் கோடியாகும். 20 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேல் இந்த மாநகராட்சியை சிவசேனா தனது கட்டுப்பாட்டில் வைத்திருந்தது.
ஆனால் இம்முறை சிவசேனா இரண்டாக உடைந்துவிட்டது. ஏக்நாத் ஷிண்டே தலைமையிலான சிவசேனா 90 வார்டுகளில் தான் போட்டியிடுகிறது. மும்பையை விட்டுவிடக்கூடாது என்பதற்காகத்தான் உத்தவ் தாக்கரேயும், ராஜ் தாக்கரேயும் 20 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு பிறகு இணைந்துள்ளனர். உண்மையான போட்டியென்றால் அது உத்தவ் தாக்கரேயிக்கும், ஏக்நாத் ஷிண்டேயிக்கும் தான் என்று அரசியல் பார்வையாளர்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர்.
