Mumbai: Amid reports that 16 MLAs and 7 MPs from the Shiv Sena party led by Uddhav Thackeray are set to switch to the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde, Sanjay Nirupam has said that the party’s story will be over by 2029.
It has been widely discussed in Maharashtra political circles that Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena has been trying over the past few weeks to woo MPs and MLAs from Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) party to its side. Reports have emerged that 16 MLAs and 7 MPs are in contact with Eknath Shinde, and that they may join Shiv Sena before the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament.

The party’s MPs and MLAs have lost faith in Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership. By 2029, the story of that party will be over. The party’s workers are leaving it every day. As far as their MPs are concerned, there is nothing for us to do. That is their internal party issue,” he said.
At the same time, commenting on this matter, Maharashtra minister Ashish Jaiswal from the Shiv Sena party said, “I do not think this is the right time to comment on what is happening in Shiv Sena (UBT).
If they are convinced that Bal Thackeray’s legacy is with Eknath Shinde, and if they make a decision for the sake of their constituency and their political future, then it would be appropriate to comment only after that decision has been made. What the anti-defection law says, whether they have the required numbers, and so on are all subject to their decision,” he said.
At the same time, Shiv Sena (UBT) senior leader and MP Sanjay Raut has said that the claims that MPs and MLAs are about to leave the party are not true.
Speaking to reporters on this, he said, “A lot of information is being received. But at the meeting convened by Uddhav Thackeray four days ago, all these MPs attended and expressed their confidence in Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership.
Some of them have even sworn that they are with Uddhav Thackeray. If they carry out Operation Tiger, we will carry out Operation Wolf,” he said.
