Personal defeat
Rather than seeing the Trinamool Congress party’s defeat in the 2026 Assembly election, it should be seen as Mamata Banerjee’s personal defeat.
The scenes from the protests led by Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata yesterday are proof of that.
Leaders belonging to the Trinamool Congress party have been continuously attacked in West Bengal.
It was in protest against this that Mamata Banerjee had announced the agitation.
The current opposition party in West Bengal is the Trinamool Congress. In the recently concluded election, 80 MLAs were elected from the Trinamool Congress.
The Trinamool Congress has a total of 29 MPs.
However, the number of MLAs who took part in the protest led by Mamata Banerjee was only 8. The number of MPs was 6.
This shows that Mamata's influence within the Trinamool Congress party has declined.

Also, the person Mamata chose as the Leader of the Opposition was Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay. However, voices within the party arose saying that the signatures on the documents submitted to appoint him were forged.
The most prominent voices in this were those of MLAs Sandipan Saha and Ritabrata Banerjee. As a result, both of them were immediately expelled from the party.
At present, Ritabrata Banerjee says he has the support of 59 MLAs and that he is the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

Mamata Banerjee alleges that the BJP is responsible for the internal party conflict.
However, political analysts say the reasons for the Trinamool Congress’s internal strife are the sidelining of senior leaders, the projection of Mamata’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee as the party’s leader after Mamata, Abhishek Banerjee’s excessive dependence on the I-PAC company, and the lack of democracy within the party.
The team led by Sandipan Saha and Ritabrata Banerjee is planning to set up new leadership without getting caught under the 'anti-defection law'.

BJP's wish

But while the BJP embraced Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, it is said that the BJP will not take in those who break away from the Trinamool Congress.
The reason is that if the BJP were to absorb those leaving the Trinamool out of dissatisfaction, the wave of public sympathy would turn toward Mamata. That would work in Mamata’s favor.
Using that, Mamata will skillfully make her move.
Therefore, it is said that the BJP would only enjoy seeing the Trinamool Congress stagger under internal party conflict.
Moreover, if the Trinamool Congress collapses in West Bengal, the Congress and other Left parties will rise as rivals to the BJP. The BJP would not like this at all.
Most importantly, this internal party conflict will also put a brake on Mamata’s national political ambitions.

இதற்கு நேற்று கொல்கத்தாவில் மம்தா பானர்ஜி நடத்திய போராட்டங்களின் காட்சிகளே சாட்சி.
திரிணாமுல் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சியைச் சேர்ந்த தலைவர்கள் மேற்கு வங்கத்தில் தொடர்ந்து தாக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றனர்.
இதை எதிர்த்து தான் மம்தா பானர்ஜி போராட்டத்தை அறிவித்திருந்தார்.
மேற்கு வங்கத்தின் தற்போதைய எதிர்க்கட்சி திரிணாமுல் காங்கிரஸ். நடந்து முடிந்த தேர்தலில், திரிணமுல் காங்கிரஸில் இருந்து 80 எம்.எல்.ஏக்கள் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கின்றன.
திரிணமுல் காங்கிரஸிற்கு மொத்தம் 29 எம்.பி-கள் உள்ளன.
ஆனால், மம்தா பானர்ஜி நடத்திய போராட்டத்தில் கலந்துகொண்ட எம்.எல்.ஏ-க்களின் எண்ணிக்கை வெறும் 8 மட்டுமே. எம்.பி-க்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 6.
இது திரிணாமுல் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சிக்குள் மம்தாவின் செல்வாக்கு குறைந்துவிட்டதைக் காட்டுகிறது.
இரண்டாவது அணி
மேலும், எதிர்க்கட்சித் தலைவராக மம்தா தேர்ந்தெடுத்தவர் சோபன்தேப் சட்டோபாத்யாய். ஆனால், இவரை நியமிப்பதற்காக கொடுக்கப்பட்ட ஆவணங்களில் இருந்த கையெழுத்துகள் போலியானது என்று கட்சிக்குள் குரல்கள் எழுந்தன.

தற்போது ரிதபிரதா பானர்ஜி தனக்கு 59 எம்.எல்.ஏ-க்களின் ஆதரவு உள்ளது என்றும், அவர்தான் எதிர்க்கட்சித் தலைவர் என்றும் மேற்கு வங்க சட்டமன்றத்தில் வந்து நிற்கிறார்.
பூசலுக்கு என்ன காரணம்?
உட்கட்சிப் பூசலுக்கு பாஜக தான் காரணம் என்று குற்றம் சாட்டுகிறார் மம்தா பானர்ஜி.
