The state secretary of the Communist Party of India, M. Veerapandian, has urged the Tamil Nadu government to order the case of sexual assault on women in Salem to be transferred to the CB-CID for investigation.
In a statement issued by him regarding this, he said: In the Salem city area, the incident in which women living in poverty were lured with promises of loans and forced into prostitution, and in which a man named Manikandan secretly filmed more than 50 women in obscene videos and blackmailed them using those videos, has caused great shock.
Police have arrested Manikandan, who was involved in this incident. Suspicion has arisen that there may be several others behind this.
Therefore, the Tamil Nadu government should order a CBCID investigation into this case and arrest all the culprits involved in this incident, whoever they may be, and ensure they are given appropriate punishment.
The new government has formed the ‘Lioness Special Task Force’ to ensure women’s safety. M. Veerapandian has stated that its work should be expanded to the fullest extent.
