Political party leaders welcomed the separate resolution passed on Friday against the Mekedatu dam at the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly session and expressed their views.
M. Veerapandian (Communist Party of India): The central government should not grant permission to build the Mekedatu dam. Congratulations to the government, which adopted a democratic and unanimous resolution in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on this issue, and to the legislators who extended their support.
T.T.V. Dhinakaran (AMMK): Not only should a resolution be passed against the Mekedatu dam, but appropriate steps should also be taken to implement it. Chief Minister Joseph Vijay should continue to exert pressure on the central government in this regard.
G.K. Vasan (TMC): The resolution passed by the Tamil Nadu government against the Mekedatu dam reflects the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu and its farmers.
Kamal Haasan (MNM): In the Mekedatu issue, which affects Tamil Nadu’s water rights and the livelihood of Tamil Nadu farmers, congratulations to the legislators who set aside political differences and stood together as one to express their support.
