Hundreds of people, including transgender individuals and homosexuals, took part in the Rainbow Self-Respect Rally held in Coimbatore.
The seventh Rainbow Self-Respect Rally was held in Coimbatore. Hundreds of people, including transgender individuals and homosexuals, participated in this rally held in the area near the Women’s Polytechnic College.
They came from various parts of Tamil Nadu and wore colorful clothes of their choice, dressing themselves up as they liked.
In this march, they carried banners including “My life, my body, my love; even if my body is raped, the pain is the same,” and marched while holding colorful balloons and a long rainbow-colored cloth.
They said this march is usually held at the Race Course, but permission was not granted there. Those who took part in the march said that job opportunities for transgender people should be increased, and that it would be beneficial if the government provided them with homes of their own.
They said that only transgender people have been granted the right to marry, and that this right should also be extended to homosexual people.
Furthermore, they also requested that parents accept them. They said that the government sees them as if they are a very small minority. However, they stated that they are holding this rally to convey that this is not the case and that they too are numerous.

கோவையில் நடைபெற்ற வானவில் சுயமரியாதை பேரணியில் மூன்றாம் பாலினத்தவர்கள், தன்பாலின ஈர்ப்பாளர்கள் என நூற்றுக்கணக்கானோர் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.
கோவையில் ஏழாவது வானவில் சுயமரியாதை பேரணி நடைபெற்றது. மகளிர் பாலிடெக்னிக் கல்லூரி பகுதியில் நடைபெற்ற இந்தப் பேரணியில் மூன்றாம் பாலினத்தவர்கள், தன்பாலின ஈர்ப்பாளர்கள் என நூற்றுக்கணக்கானோர் பங்கேற்றனர்.
தமிழகத்தில் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளில் இருந்து வருகை புரிந்து, தங்களுக்கு பிடித்த வண்ண உடைகளை அணிந்து, அவர்களுக்கு பிடித்தார்போல அலங்கரித்துக் கொண்டனர்.
இந்தப் பேரணியில் “என் வாழ்க்கை என் உடல் என் காதல், என் உடலை வன்புணர்வு செய்தாலும் உண்டாகும் வலி ஒன்றுதான், உள்ளிட்ட பதாகைகளை ஏந்தியும் வண்ண பலூன்களை கையில் ஏந்தியும், வானவில் நிறத்தில் நீளமான துணியை ஏந்திய படியும் பேரணி மேற்கொண்டனர்.
ரேஸ் கோர்ஸில் வழக்கமாக இந்தப் பேரணி நடைபெறும் என்றும் ஆனால், அங்கு அனுமதி அளிக்கப்படவில்லை என்றும் தெரிவித்தனர். திருநர் மக்களுக்கு வேலை வாய்ப்புகளை அதிகப்படுத்த வேண்டும், தங்களுக்கு என சொந்த வீடுகளை அரசாங்கம் கொடுத்தால் பயனுள்ளதாக இருக்கும் என்றும் பேரணியில் பங்கேற்றவர்கள் கூறினர்.
திருநர் மக்களுக்கு மட்டும் திருமண செய்துகொள்வதற்கு உரிமை கிடைத்துள்ளதாகவும், அந்த உரிமை தன்பாலின ஈர்ப்பாளர்களுக்கும் வழங்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்றனர்.
மேலும், பெற்றோர்கள் எங்களை ஏற்றுக் கொள்ள வேண்டும் எனவும் கேட்டுக்கொண்டனர். அரசாங்கம் தங்களை மிகவும் குறைந்த எண்ணிக்கையில் இருப்பவர்கள்போல பார்க்கிறது. ஆனால், அவ்வாறு இல்லை நாங்களும் அதிகமாக இருக்கிறோம் என்பதை உணர்த்தும் வகையில் இந்தப் பேரணியை மேற்கொள்வதாகத் தெரிவித்தனர்.
