Telegram filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday challenging the central government’s ban.
Following confirmation that irregularities took place through the Telegram app in the NEET exam held on May 3, the exam was cancelled, and the NEET re-exam is scheduled to be held on June 21.
The central government has imposed various restrictions to ensure that the NEET re-examination is conducted smoothly and without any irregularities. In that regard, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued a ban order on the Telegram app under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Commenting on this on Tuesday, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov said that the temporary ban imposed on the Telegram app in India was a punishment for its 150 million users.
Meanwhile, Telegram has filed a case in the Delhi High Court seeking to have the ban imposed by the central government revoked.
In the petition filed before Judge Tejas Karia’s bench, a request has been made to hear it as an urgent case, as 150 million users have been affected by the government’s ban.

நீதிபதி தேஜஸ் காரியா அமர்வில் தாக்கல் செய்த மனுவில், அரசின் தடையால் 15 கோடி பயனர்கள் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதால், அவசர வழக்காக விசாரிக்க கோரிக்கை விடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
