Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is leaving for Britain today on a seven-day trip. He will return to Tamil Nadu again on the 17th.
The Tamil Nadu government has issued a statement saying this is a trip to attract industrial investments.
The statement says...
"The Tamil Nadu government is working with the main objective of making Tamil Nadu the foremost investment-friendly hub in Asia.
Multinational companies from various European countries have proposed investment projects worth about Rs. 8,491 crore, and these are expected to create employment opportunities for around 5,690 people.

This highlights the growing interest and confidence of investors in Tamil Nadu in the investment markets.
Companies from Britain have long been operating significantly in Tamil Nadu in sectors including engineering, financial services, and technology.
Many of these companies have also established and are operating manufacturing plants and global capability centers (GCCs) in Tamil Nadu.
Strengthening such ties further, expanding the operations of existing companies, and attracting new investments in advanced manufacturing, automobiles and electric vehicles, electronics, and Global Capability Centers (GCCs) are among the key objectives of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu’s current visit to the United Kingdom. This will create opportunities to generate high-quality employment in Tamil Nadu.
Furthermore, building on the already well-established automobile and electric vehicle manufacturing ecosystem in Tamil Nadu, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has announced under Rule No. 110 of the Legislative Assembly that a world-class “Motor Sports City” will be established in the State.
In order to take this announcement forward, it would be beneficial to personally visit the world’s leading motor sports infrastructure facilities and learn about their best practices. As part of this, a visit to the renowned “Silverstone Motor Racing Circuit” is planned.
The delegation led by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu will depart from Chennai today (10.9.2026) and return to Chennai on 17.9.2026.
The delegation includes the Hon’ble Minister for Public Works and Sports Development, Thiru. Adhav Arjuna; Thiru. Megenath Reddy, I.A.S., Member Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority (SDAT); Thiru. Deepak Jacob, I.A.S., Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Industries Department’s guidance agency (Guidance); and government officials.
