Thiruvannamalai: Balasubramanian, former president of the Thiruvannamalai South BJP, has filed a complaint at the District Superintendent of Police office alleging that BJP state secretary Aswathaman borrowed Rs. 38 lakh and has been cheating him by not repaying it.
In that complaint petition, “When I was the BJP district president of Thiruvannamalai South district in 2024, during the Lok Sabha election held then, Aswathaman from Chennai was announced as the candidate for the Thiruvannamalai constituency on behalf of the BJP. At that time, Aswathaman was the BJP’s state secretary.
In this situation, on March 30, 2024, Ashwathaman told me that he was unable to arrange money for election expenses and requested me to help by spending money for the election. He also assured me that he would return the money once the election was over.
Trusting what he said, he borrowed a total of Rs. 38 lakh from me on various dates from March 30, 2024, to April 16, 2024, as a loan for election expenses to spend on his election campaign.
Then, on April 18, 2024, Ashwathaman issued a cheque for Rs. 38 lakh in my name and told me to deposit the cheque in the bank on April 20 and collect the money. On the date he specified, I deposited the cheque in the bank. At that time, I was unable to receive the money because Ashwathaman had given a 'Stop payment' instruction on the cheque.
When I asked Ashwathaman about this, he asked for time. Later, when I asked him after a few days, he said he could not return the money and threatened me. I complained about this to the party's central committee. They called both me and Ashwathaman and spoke to us.
At that time, Ashwathaman said he would return it within 2 years. I waited for 2 years as he said, but he did not return the money.
Even when I tried to contact him, I received no response from him. Only later did I realize that I had been cheated by him.
Therefore, he has requested in the petition that appropriate action be taken against Ashwathaman, who deliberately deceived me, gave a cheque marked 'Stop Payment,' and has been cheating me without returning the money, and that suitable steps be taken to recover my money.”
It is noteworthy that former district president Balasubramanian, who has filed the complaint petition, is now associated with the 'We The Leaders' organization.
