South Korea’s government is investigating reports that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un may also have a son, even though it had previously been said that he has only one daughter.
After Kim Jong Il, who was the leader of North Korea, died in 2011, his son Kim Jong Un took over as president. He has been serving as leader for 15 years, and his daughter is said to be his successor. In this situation, South Korea’s National Intelligence Service has stated in a report that there is a possibility he has a son.
Kim Jong Un’s daughter, Kim Ju Ae, who is currently 13 years old, is expected to succeed him as the next president, the National Intelligence Service has confirmed, while also noting that she may have an older brother.
South Korea has been closely examining all details, from the occasions on which Kim’s daughter has appeared in public to the responsibilities she may be given in government.
Earlier, South Korean intelligence officials had reported that the North Korean leader had no son with his wife, Ri Sol Ju. In response, the National Intelligence Service has issued a new report.
Since 2022, the president has attended all North Korean missile sites and state events accompanied by his daughter. Photographs related to this have been released by North Korea to show the world that Kim’s most beloved heir is his daughter.
Since North Korea was founded as an independent country in 1948, all three people who have served as its presidents have been men. Before Kim Jong Un, his father Kim Jong Il and his grandfather Kim Il Sung were also presidents.
Due to the deeply rooted patriarchal mindset in North Korea and the power structure dominated by men, it is said that the current president Kim is likely to have a son.
Because political analysts say it is doubtful whether North Korea’s senior top officials would accept the command of a woman. They also note that if Kim Ju Ae marries someone from another family and power is handed over to their child, Kim Jong Un’s hereditary family rule could eventually come to an end.
At the same time, if the now 42-year-old Kim were to hand over power to his daughter, his absolute authority over state affairs could also diminish.
