Many people filed petitions in the Madurai Bench of the High Court seeking the cancellation of cases pending in the POCSO courts in Tiruchi, Thoothukudi, Pudukkottai, and Madurai. In the order issued by Judge Victoria Gowri, who heard these petitions, it was stated, "In some POCSO cases, it appears that false sexual complaints were filed to settle personal vendettas. Therefore, those cases are being quashed.
To prevent the misuse of the POCSO Act, the Tamil Nadu Home Secretary, the Director of Social Welfare, and the Secretary of the Law Department should jointly take steps to conduct ‘Singapen Awareness’ workshops across the state.
A soft approach in handling the POCSO Act, children’s psychology, and punishment should be brought into awareness. This is a sacred law meant to protect children. But when it is used for the revenge of adults, justice for the child who is truly affected gets delayed.
Childhood is very delicate. The court and the police should not act mechanically; they should act with compassion and care. The success of the POCSO Act does not lie in punishment. It lies in how safe the child feels when coming out of the justice system," he noted.

போக்சோ சட்டத்தை தவறாக பயன்படுத்துவதை தடுக்க மாநிலம் முழுவதும் ‘சிங்கப்பெண் விழிப்புணர்வு’ பயிலரங்குகளை நடத்த தமிழக உள்துறை செயலாளர், சமூக நலத்துறை இயக்குநர் மற்றும் சட்டத்துறைச் செயலாளர் ஆகியோர் இணைந்து நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்.
போக்சோ சட்டத்தை கையாளுவதில் மென்மைப் போக்கு, குழந்தைகளின் உளவியல், தண்டனை ஆகியவை குறித்து விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டும். இது குழந்தைகளைப் பாதுகாக்கும் புனிதமான சட்டம். ஆனால் பெரியவர்களின் பழிவாங்கல்களுக்காகத் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் போது, உண்மையில் பாதிக்கப்படும் குழந்தைக்கு நீதி தள்ளிப்போகிறது.
குழந்தைப் பருவம் என்பது மிகவும் மென்மையானது. நீதிமன்றமும் காவல்துறையும் இயந்திரத்தனமாகச் செயல்படாமல், பரிவோடும், அரவணைப்போடும் நடக்க வேண்டும். போக்சோ சட்டத்தின் வெற்றி என்பது தண்டனையில் இல்லை. நீதி அமைப்பிலிருந்து வெளியே வரும் குழந்தை எவ்வளவு பாதுகாப்பாக உணர்கிறது என்பதில்தான் உள்ளது” என குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.
