After the new government led by Chief Minister Vijay was formed in Tamil Nadu, the first meeting of the Dindigul Municipal Corporation was held yesterday. The meeting began under the leadership of Mayor Ilamathi, Deputy Mayor Rajappa, and Commissioner Senthil Murugan.
“Because the underground sewer covers were not properly in place, I was injured in an accident and underwent treatment for 40 days,” a DMK councillor said at the municipal corporation meeting, causing a stir.
Following this, councillors raised allegations, saying, “Water is supplied in the municipal corporation only once every three days, and water is being wasted due to pipe bursts.”
Speaking at the meeting, Ganeshan, the 2nd ward councillor of the Marxist Communist Party, said, “A private water company is drawing tens of thousands of liters of water from the Athoor check dam. The municipal administration must stop this immediately. This is the main reason for the water shortage in the municipality.”
The mayor and deputy mayor, who attended the meeting, brought a photograph of former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and placed it on the table where they were seated before beginning the meeting.
Earlier, in observance of World Environment Day, a pledge was taken at the Dindigul Municipal Corporation meeting.
Following this, when Dindigul Municipal Corporation 14th ward member Dhanapal spoke, he extended his greetings to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, Puducherry Chief Minister Rangasamy, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
DMK ward councillor Jayanthi, who opposed this, said, “I accept offering greetings to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu; but how is it fair to extend greetings to the Chief Ministers of other states? Would they offer greetings to our Chief Minister in those states?” she asked.
Explaining this, Municipal Commissioner Senthil Murugan said, "The municipality gets water through two sources: the Athur check dam and the Cauvery combined drinking water project. At present, there is only 2 feet of water in the Athur check dam. Steps are being taken to bring water to the Athur check dam from the Mullaperiyar Baby Dam," he said.
Speaking, Indirani, the head of the municipal health department and the DMK councillor for Ward 3, said, "The municipal contractor, BPA Construction Company, is paying only Rs. 7,000 instead of the Rs. 14,000 that should be paid to 24 employees. As per the central government order, employees' salaries must be paid only through bank accounts," she stressed.
BJP 14th ward councillor Dhanabalan welcomed this. There was a commotion among DMK ward councillors over the speech of DMK ward councillor Indrani.
Then, when 3rd ward councillor Indrani was speaking, she said, “Accidents are occurring due to underground sewer works and maintenance deficiencies.”
DMK councillors immediately raised slogans asking her to provide details of the affected persons.
In response, DMK councillor Indrani said, “I myself am the affected person; for the past 40 days, because the underground sewer covers were not properly in place, I had an accident and was undergoing treatment.”
Furthermore, when Municipal Commissioner Senthil Murugan gave an explanation on this, he assured that “steps will be taken to pay employees’ salaries through bank accounts, and the underground sewer lines will be repaired.”
Finally, the resolution for World Environment Day was passed and the meeting concluded.

இதற்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்த திமுக வார்டு கவுன்சிலர் ஜெயந்தி, “தமிழக முதலமைச்சருக்கு வாழ்த்து கூறுவதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறேன்; ஆனால் மற்ற மாநில முதல்வர்களுக்கு வாழ்த்து தெரிவிப்பது எந்த வகையில் நியாயம்? அந்த மாநிலங்களில் நம் முதலமைச்சருக்கு வாழ்த்து தெரிவிப்பார்களா?” என்று கேள்வி எழுப்பினார்.
இது குறித்து மாநகராட்சி ஆணையர் செந்தில் முருகன் விளக்கம் அளிக்கையில், “மாநகராட்சிக்கு ஆத்தூர் தடுப்பணை மற்றும் காவிரி கூட்டுக்குடிநீர் திட்டம் என இரு வழிகளில் தண்ணீர் கிடைக்கிறது. தற்போது ஆத்தூர் தடுப்பணையில் 2 அடி மட்டுமே தண்ணீர் உள்ளது. முல்லைப் பெரியாறு பேபி அணையில் இருந்து ஆத்தூர் தடுப்பணைக்குத் தண்ணீர் கொண்டு வர நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது” என்று தெரிவித்தார்.
மாநகராட்சி சுகாதாரத்துறை தலைவரும் 3-வது வார்டு திமுக கவுன்சிலருமான இந்திராணி பேசுகையில், “மாநகராட்சி ஒப்பந்ததாரரான பிபிஏ (BPA) கன்ஸ்ட்ரக்ஷன் நிறுவனம், 24 ஊழியர்களுக்கு ரூ.14,000 வழங்க வேண்டிய இடத்தில் ரூ.7,000 மட்டுமே வழங்குகிறது. மத்திய அரசின் அரசாணைப்படி, ஊழியர்களின் சம்பளத்தை வங்கிக் கணக்கு மூலமே வழங்க வேண்டும்” என வலியுறுத்தினார்.

மேலும் மாநகராட்சி ஆணையர் செந்தில் முருகன் இது குறித்து விளக்கம் அளிக்கும் போது, “ஊழியர்களுக்கு வங்கிக் கணக்கு மூலம் ஊதியம் வழங்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும், பாதாள சாக்கடைகள் சரி செய்யப்படும்” என உறுதியளித்தார்.
