After the assembly election, the first monthly meeting of the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation was held today under the chairmanship of Mayor Ranganayaki. The DMK councillors of the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation, who came to this meeting, insisted that a photograph of former Chief Minister Stalin should be displayed along with Chief Minister Vijay’s picture.
At that point, a heated argument broke out between DMK and Congress councillors after Congress councillors insisted that a picture of former Chief Minister Kamaraj should be displayed. DMK councillors brought in a photo of former Chief Minister Stalin, chanting slogans, and tried to hang it in the council hall. Then, as Congress party members also brought in Kamaraj’s picture, a fierce argument and scuffle erupted.
At that time, DMK members raised slogans saying, “Down with Congress traitors, down with Congress.” They also shouted, “Congress party should leave the council meeting,” creating a tense atmosphere. In this situation, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja calmed both sides. He also announced that, as per the Tamil Nadu government order, the former Chief Minister’s photograph may be displayed, and therefore the former Chief Minister’s photograph may be displayed, after which both sides reached a compromise.
Speaking to reporters afterward, Congress councillors said, “DMK members are saying ‘Down with the Congress party’ and ‘Down with Kamarajar.’ We are going to take the actions of the DMK members to the party leadership in Delhi. We are going to strongly insist that we should never again form an alliance with the DMK.”
Later, as the municipal corporation meeting was underway, AIADMK councillors raised slogans with placards in hand in front of Mayor Ranganayaki’s seat, demanding that action be taken to dissolve the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation, where corruption has increased. Mayor Ranganayaki repeatedly called the police into the council meeting to remove AIADMK councillors Prabhakaran and Ramesh from the meeting. However, as the police did not come inside, municipal corporation employees removed the AIADMK councillors from the council meeting. As a result, a tense atmosphere prevailed in the council meeting hall.

சட்டமன்ற தேர்தலுக்கு பிறகு கோவை மாநகராட்சியின் முதல் மாதாந்திர கூட்டம் இன்று மேயர் ரங்கநாயகி தலைமையில் நடைபெற்றது. இந்த கூட்டத்திற்கு வந்த கோவை மாநகராட்சி தி.மு.க கவுன்சிலர்கள், முதல்வர் விஜய் படத்துடன், முன்னாள் முதல்வர் ஸ்டாலின் புகைப்படம் வைக்க வேண்டும் என வலியுறுத்தினர்.
அப்போது காங்கிரஸ் கவுன்சிலர்கள் முன்னாள் முதல்வர் காமராஜர் படத்தை வைக்க வேண்டும் என வலியுறுத்தியதால், தி.மு.க – காங்கிரஸ் கவுன்சிலர்களிடையே கடும் வாக்குவாதம் ஏற்பட்டது. தி.மு.க கவுன்சிலர்கள் முன்னாள் முதல்வர் ஸ்டாலின் புகைப்படத்தை தூக்கி கொண்டு வந்து முழக்கமிட்டபடி, அதை மாமன்ற கூட்ட அரங்கில் மாட்ட முயன்றனர். அப்போது காங்கிரஸ் கட்சியினரும் காமராஜர் படத்தை தூக்கி கொண்டு வரவே கடும் வாக்குவாதம், தள்ளுமுள்ளு ஏற்பட்டது.
அப்போது தி.மு.க-வினர், “காங்கிரஸ் துரோகிகள் ஒழிக , காங்கிரஸ் ஒழிக” என முழக்கம் எழுப்பினர். மேலும், ”மாமன்ற கூட்டத்தில் இருந்து காங்கிரஸ் கட்சியே வெளியேறு” எனவும் முழக்கம் எழுப்பியதால் பரபரப்பான சூழல் நிலவியது. இந்த சூழலில் கோவை மாநகராட்சி ஆணையர் கட்டா ரவி தேஜா இரு தரப்பினரையும் அமைதிப்படுத்தினார். மேலும் தமிழக அரசு ஆணைப்படி முன்னாள் முதல்வர் புகைப்படம் மாட்டலாம் என இருக்கின்றது எனவும், எனவே முன்னாள் முதல்வர் புகைப்படம் மாட்டலாம் எனவும் அறிவித்ததால், இரு தரப்பினரும் சமரசமாகினர்.

பின்னர் மாநகராட்சி கூட்டம் நடந்த நிலையில், ஊழல் அதிகரித்து இருக்கும் கோவை மாநகராட்சியை கலைக்க நடவடிக்கைகள் எடுக்க வேண்டும் என அ.தி.மு.க கவுன்சிலர்கள் மேயர் ரங்கநாயகி இருக்கை முன்பாக கையில் பதாகைகளுடன் முழக்கம் எழுப்பினர். அ.தி.மு.க கவுன்சிலர்கள் பிரபாகரன், ரமேஷ் ஆகிய இருவரையும் மன்ற கூட்டத்தில் இருந்து வெளியேற்ற மேயர் ரங்கநாயகி பலமுறை காவல்துறையை மாமன்ற கூட்டத்திற்குள் அழைத்தார். ஆனால் காவல் துறையினர் உள்ளே வராத நிலையில், மாநகராட்சி ஊழியர்கள் அதிமுக கவுன்சிலர்களை மாமன்ற கூட்டத்தில் இருந்து வெளியேற்றினர். இதன் காரணமாக மாமன்ற கூட்ட அரங்கில் பரபரப்பான சூழல் நிலவியது.
