Chennai: The Madras High Court has dismissed petitions seeking an Income Tax Department inquiry into the concealment of asset details in the nomination papers of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin, and BJP candidate Tamilisai Soundararajan.
In the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election, Chief Minister Vijay, who contested in the Chennai Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East constituencies, was said to have provided contradictory information in the nomination papers filed in both constituencies. In the nomination paper filed in the Perambur constituency, he had stated that his assets were worth Rs. 115 crore 13 lakh 63 thousand, while in the Tiruchirappalli East constituency nomination paper, he had stated Rs. 220 crore 15 lakh 62 thousand. Therefore, a case was filed by Vignesh from Vyasarpadi, a voter in the Perambur constituency, seeking an order to the Income Tax Department and the Election Commission to investigate whether his asset details are complete and genuine.
Kumaravel, a voter in the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency where Udhayanidhi Stalin is contesting, had filed a case alleging that there are discrepancies between the asset details mentioned in the nomination petition submitted by Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin and the asset details filed during the 2021 Assembly election.
Mylapore constituency BJP candidate Tamilisai Soundararajan had filed a case, alleging that there were discrepancies between the asset details stated in the nomination papers she submitted when contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha election and the asset details declared in the Assembly election nomination papers.
When these three cases came up for hearing before the bench of Chief Justice Sushrut Aravind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arulmurugan, the lawyer appearing for the Election Commission, Niranjan Rajagopal, said that Chief Minister Vijay had already filed a new petition by amending the nomination he had first submitted. The asset values he had mentioned in both constituencies are correct. Only an election petition can be filed regarding this matter. He added that several cases filed earlier with the same demands have already been dismissed.
Accepting his argument, the judges ordered the dismissal of the cases filed against Chief Minister Vijay, Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin, and BJP candidate Tamilisai Soundararajan. The judges also advised the petitioners that if there are any defects, they may file them as election petitions.

இந்த மூன்று வழக்குகளும், தலைமை நீதிபதி சுஷ்ருத் அரவிந்த் தர்மாதிகாரி மற்றும் நீதிபதி ஜி.அருள்முருகன் அமர்வில் விசாரணைக்கு வந்தபோது, தேர்தல் ஆணையம் தரப்பில் ஆஜரான வழக்கறிஞர் நிரஞ்சன் ராஜகோபால், முதல்வர் விஜய் முதலில் தாக்கல் செய்த வேட்புமனுவை திருத்தம் செய்து புதிய மனுவை ஏற்கெனவே தாக்கல் செய்துவிட்டார். இரு தொகுதிகளிலும் அவர் குறிபிட்டிருந்த சொத்து மதிப்புகள் சரியாக உள்ளன. இந்த விவகாரம் தொடர்பாக தேர்தல் வழக்கு தான் தாக்கல் செய்ய முடியும். ஏற்கெனவே இதே கோரிக்கைகளுடன் தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்ட பல வழக்குகள் தள்ளுபடி செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளன எனத் தெரிவித்தார்.
அவரது வாதத்தை ஏற்றுக் கொண்ட நீதிபதிகள், முதல்வர் விஜய், எதிர்க்கட்சித் தலைவர் உதயநிதி ஸ்டாலின், பாஜக வேட்பாளர் தமிழிசை சவுந்தரராஜனுக்கு எதிராக தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்டிருந்த வழக்குகளை தள்ளுபடி செய்து உத்தரவிட்டனர். ஏதேனும் குறைகள் இருந்தால் தேர்தல் வழக்காக தாக்கல் செய்யலாம் எனவும் மனுதாரர்களுக்கு நீதிபதிகள் அறிவுறுத்தினர்.
