Chennai: DMK leader M.K. Stalin has conveyed birthday wishes to Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi. Following this, Rahul Gandhi has thanked Stalin.
In the birthday greeting message issued by M.K. Stalin on the occasion of Rahul Gandhi’s birthday, he said, “Birthday wishes to Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi. Wishing you a healthy and happy life.”
In a post released by Rahul Gandhi thanking M.K. Stalin for his birthday wishes, he said, “Thank you for your kind wishes. The idea of India, the Constitution, and our commitment to protecting the federal principle will continue to guide us. In this struggle to safeguard the soul of our democracy, we will stand together and keep fighting until we win.”
Following the DMK’s defeat and TVK’s victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly election, the Congress party formed an alliance with TVK on May 6. It also secured a place in the Tamil Nadu cabinet. The party had also said that the Congress-TVK alliance would work together in all upcoming elections, including the local body elections and the Lok Sabha parliamentary election.
The Congress party, which contested the election as part of the DMK alliance and won 5 constituencies, has been sharply criticized by the DMK after switching sides after the election. Udhayanidhi Stalin said that the Congress party had stabbed the DMK in the back and that there would never again be an alliance with that party.
With the rift widening among both the leaders and the cadres, M.K. Stalin’s congratulatory message and Rahul Gandhi’s message of thanks are being seen as steps to ease the situation.
