Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has urged the Central government to allocate an additional 10 percent funds every year to the Union Territory of Puducherry.
A NITI Aayog meeting was held in New Delhi on Thursday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy did not participate in it.
The speech prepared on his behalf and submitted to the Central government was released by the Chief Minister Rangasamy office on Thursday. It said:
In line with the major changes taking place at the national level, and in order to implement the vision of ‘Prime Minister’s Developed India-2047’
Among Union Territories, Puducherry ranks 3rd in per capita income, and 11th nationally in gross state domestic product at constant prices.
The fiscal deficit is about 1.33 percent, which is below the targeted 3 percent limit. The government has increased capital expenditure by undertaking economically viable and revenue-generating infrastructure projects.
After the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax in Puducherry, the chances of raising additional revenue through taxes are very limited. There are no natural resources here. Therefore, there is also no opportunity to earn additional revenue. It will take another 20 years to fully meet the current infrastructure needs.
Therefore, sufficient funds should be allocated under a special package scheme, with funds specifically earmarked for large-scale projects to build a developed Puducherry.
Puducherry is the first Union Territory with a legislative assembly to have been maintaining a separate public account since December 2007, in accordance with the directives of the Union Home Ministry and the Finance Ministry.
Therefore, Puducherry Union Territory should also be included within the purview of the Central Finance Commission. It has been urged that until it is included in the Central Finance Commission, the Union government should increase financial assistance by 10 percent every year starting from the 2026-27 financial year.

எனவே, வளா்ந்த புதுச்சேரியை உருவாக்க பெரிய அளவிலான திட்டங்களுக்கென பிரத்யேகமாக ஒதுக்கப்படும் நிதியுடன் ஒரு சிறப்புத் தொகுப்புத் திட்டத்தின்கீழ் போதுமான நிதி ஒதுக்கப்பட வேண்டும்.
மத்திய அரசின் உள்துறை அமைச்சகம் மற்றும் நிதி அமைச்சகத்தின் அறிவுறுத்தல்களின்படி கடந்த டிசம்பா் 2007 முதல் தனி பொதுக் கணக்கை நிா்வகித்து வரும் சட்டப்பேரவையுடன் கூடிய முதல் யூனியன் பிரதேசம் புதுச்சேரி.
எனவே, மத்திய நிதிக் குழுவின் வரம்பிற்குள் புதுச்சேரி யூனியன் பிரதேசத்தையும் சோ்க்க வேண்டும். மத்திய நிதிக் குழுவில் சோ்க்கும் வரையில் 2026-27 -ஆம் நிதியாண்டு முதல் ஆண்டுதோறும் மத்திய அரசு நிதி உதவியை 10 சதவீதம் உயா்த்தி தரவேண்டும் என்று வலியுறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.
