This issue has caused a major stir in Tamil Nadu political circles. The reason is that reports emerged saying John Britto is the brother of Leema Rose, an AIADMK MLA, who is also a key functionary of TVK and the mother-in-law of minister Aadhav Arjuna.
In this situation, AIADMK MLA Leema Rose’s brother John Britto filed a complaint today at the Police Commissioner’s office, seeking action against those spreading defamation.
After filing the complaint, speaking to reporters, he said, "Maridhas keeps spreading defamatory news about me. The John Britto involved in drug smuggling is someone else; I am different. That is not me.
False accusations are being spread against me without any evidence. I have no connection to drug trafficking. They are doing such things only to tarnish our name.
False news should be avoided. It is affecting my profession. There is no drug case against me," he said.

என் மீது ஆதாரமின்றி பொய்க் குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் பரப்பப்படுகின்றன. போதைப் பொருள் கடத்தலுக்கும் எனக்கும் தொடர்பில்லை. எங்கள் பெயரை கெடுப்பதற்காகவே இதுபோன்ற விஷயங்களை செய்கிறார்கள்.
தவறான செய்திகளைத் தவிர்க்க வேண்டும். என்னுடைய தொழில் பாதிக்கிறது. என் மீது போதைப் பொருள் வழக்கு எதுவும் இல்லை.” என்று கூறியிருக்கிறார்.
