In the recently concluded Assembly election, DMK General Secretary Durai Murugan was pushed to third place and suffered a crushing defeat in the Katpadi constituency. Dr. M. During the DMK regime, the Katpadi MLA office—despite DMK General Secretary Durai Murugan remaining in power for so many years—was never opened to receive petitions from the people of the constituency; nor were their grievances heard.The office was overgrown with bushes. Even when he had been in the opposition for 10 consecutive years since 2011 and had not opened the MLA office, he did not open it even for a single day during the past 5 years when his party was in power. The people of Katpadi had seen Durai Murugan only at public events. Even then, they could not submit petitions to him. If anyone stood there with a petition, he would ignore them and walk away. At times, Durai Murugan’s speech and body language would be dismissive of the people. For such reasons, the people of the constituency would not want to meet Durai Murugan. Since the MLA office was kept in darkness,Most of the people in the constituency did not even know where that office was. It was in this situation that Dr. Sudhakar took up the issue of the MLA office during the election campaign. He received a strong welcome from the people. In the election too, Dr. Sudhakar defeated Durai Murugan by a large margin and won. தி.மு.க பொதுச்செயலாளர் துரைமுருகன் இத்தனை ஆண்டுகாலம் அதிகாரத்தில் தொடர்ந்தபோதும், எம்.எல்.ஏ அலுவலகத்தைத் திறந்து தொகுதி மக்களிடமிருந்து மனுக்களைப் பெற்றதில்லை; குறைகளையும் கேட்டதில்லை.
புதர்மண்டிக் கிடந்தது அந்த அலுவலகம். 2011-ல் இருந்து தொடர்ந்து 10 ஆண்டுகள் எதிர்க்கட்சி வரிசையில் இருந்தபோதுதான் எம்.எல்.ஏ அலுவலகத்தைத் திறக்காமலிருந்தார் என்றாலும், கடந்த 5 ஆண்டுகள் ஆளும்கட்சியாக இருந்தபோதும்கூட எம்.எல்.ஏ அலுவலகத்தை ஒருநாளும் திறக்கவில்லை.
துரைமுருகனை பொது நிகழ்ச்சிகளில் மட்டுமே காட்பாடி மக்கள் பார்த்து வந்தனர். அப்போதும்கூட, அவரிடம் மனு அளிக்க முடியாது. யாரேனும் மனுவுடன் நின்றாலும் அவர்களைக் கண்டுகொள்ளாமல் சென்றுவிடுவார்.
சில நேரங்களில், துரைமுருகனின் பேச்சும், உடல்மொழியும் மக்களை அலட்சிப்படுத்தும் வகையில் இருக்கும். இதுபோன்ற காரணங்களால், தொகுதி மக்கள் துரைமுருகனைச் சந்திக்க விரும்ப மாட்டார்கள்.
எம்.எல்.ஏ அலுவலகம் இருட்டடிப்பு செய்யப்பட்டதால், அந்த அலுவலகம் எங்கு இருக்கிறது? என்பதுகூடத் தொகுதி மக்கள் பெரும்பாலானோருக்குத் தெரியாமலிருந்தது.

இந்த நிலையில்தான் தேர்தல் பிரசாரத்தின்போது எம்.எல்.ஏ அலுவலக விவகாரத்தைக் கையிலெடுத்தார் டாக்டர் சுதாகர். செடி, கொடிகள் படர்ந்து புதர்மண்டிய காட்சியை புகைப்படம் எடுத்து பொதுமக்களிடம் காட்டினார்.
`இந்த அவலம் மேலும் நீடிக்கக் கூடாது. முற்றுப்புள்ளி வைக்க வேண்டும்’ என முழங்கினார் டாக்டர் சுதாகர். மக்களிடம் அவருக்கான வரவேற்பு அதிகமாகக் காணப்பட்டது. தேர்தலிலும் பெருவாரியான வாக்குகள் வித்தியாசத்தில் துரைமுருகனைத் தோற்கடித்து வெற்றிபெற்றார் டாக்டர் சுதாகர்.
உறுதியளித்தபடி, எம்.எல்.ஏ அலுவலகத்தையும் புதுப்பித்து, கூட்டுறவுத்துறை அமைச்சர் அரக்கோணம் காந்திராஜை அழைத்து திறந்திருக்கிறார். முதன்முறையாக, காட்பாடி தொகுதி மக்களும் மிக ஆர்வமாக எம்.எல்.ஏ அலுவலகத்தை வந்து பார்த்துச் செல்கின்றனர்.
