The Tamil Nadu Anti-Conversion Front has insisted that the Chief Justice of the Chennai High Court should retract his statement that students in National Law Universities must compulsorily study texts like "Manusmriti" and "Arthashastra." அரசியல் சாசனம் அண்ணல் அம்பேத்கர் அவர்களை வரைவுக்குழுத் தலைவராகக் கொண்டு நிறைவேற்றப்பட்ட போதும் இந்து மத அடிப்படைவாதிகள் அதை எதிர்த்தனர். மனுஸ்மிருதியே இந்தியாவை வழி நடத்த முடியுமென்று வலியுறுத்தினர்.
நீண்ட நெடிய விவாதங்களுக்குப் பின்னரே பிற்போக்கான கருத்தியல் தாக்குதல்களைக் கடந்துதான் அரசியல் சாசனம் செயல்பாட்டில் இருக்கிறது. இந்நிலையில் தலைமை நீதிபதி தர்மாதிகாரியின் கருத்து சமூகத்தைப் பின்னோக்கி இழுக்க முனைவதாக உள்ளது.
ராஜஸ்தான் உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தின் வாசலில் சட்ட விரோதமாக நிறுவப்பட்ட மனுவின் சிலை அகற்றப்பட வேண்டுமென்று பல ஆண்டுகளாகப் போராட்டங்கள் நடைபெற்று வருவதும் தலைமை நீதிபதி அறியாததல்ல.
சட்ட மாணவர்கள் தங்களின் பண்பாடு, சிந்தனை வேர்களில் இணைக்கப்பட வேண்டுமென்பதன் பொருள் என்ன? மனுஸ்மிருதி வலியுறுத்துகிற வர்ணாஸ்ரம கருத்தியல், பெண்ணடிமைத்தனம் போன்ற பிற்போக்கான கருத்தியலுடன் இணைக்கப்படுவதா? சமூக நீதி, இட ஒதுக்கீடு சார்ந்த சீர்திருத்தங்கள், சமூக முன்னேற்றத்தைப் பின்னோக்கி இழுப்பதா?
