Residents complain that the broken drain on Thiruvaiyaru Main Road in Thanjavur district has not been repaired for 8 months and request immediate repair to ensure sanitation. Speaking to us, the local people said, "The drain along this road is broken, causing severe pollution and health hazards. Many have been asking about this for eight months, but no one has come forward to fix it. More than 100 families live here. This drain was originally open and exposed."Every day, the stench that comes from crossing this road feels almost dizzying. This drain has been like this for nearly eight months. We have been enduring it. But now, the road next to that drain is also breaking down. Half of the pavement is broken. Dangerous for children: Because this road is in such a condition, we are afraid to leave our children alone. We have no other option but this. We have to cross this road to get to the bus station. Children go to and come back from school crossing this broken road and drain. Risk of infection: Not only that, since this drain is open and exposed,We are worried about the mosquito nuisance and the foul smell that comes when it rains, fearing it might cause the spread of diseases. We have made a request to our local councilor Nagarajan regarding this. He has assured that immediate action will be taken. He also said that the authorities should not show negligence and must take appropriate action immediately.

“இந்தச் சாலையை ஒட்டி அமைஞ்சிருக்க சாக்கடை உடைஞ்சு மாசக்கணக்குல சுகாதார சீர்கேடு நிலவிட்டு இருக்குது. இதைப் பத்தி எட்டு மாசமா நிறைய பேர் கேட்டுட்டுப் போறாங்க. ஆனா யாருமே இதை சரி செய்ய முன் வரவே இல்ல. இங்க 100-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட குடும்பங்கள் வசிக்குறோம்.
இந்தச் சாக்கடை ஆரம்பத்திலேயே திறந்த வெளியாகத்தான் இருந்துச்சு. தினமும் இந்தச் சாலையைக் கடக்கும்போது வரும் துர்நாற்றம் மயக்கமே வர்ற மாதிரி இருக்கும்.
கிட்டத்தட்ட எட்டு மாசமா இந்தச் சாக்கடை இப்படியேதான் கிடக்கு. அதைக்கூட தாங்கிக்கிட்டு இருந்துட்டோம். ஆனா… இப்போ அந்தச் சாக்கடையை ஒட்டி உள்ள சாலையும் உடைஞ்சுட்டே வருது. பாதிக்குப் பாதி உடைஞ்சு போயிருச்சு.
குழந்தைகளுக்கும் ஆபத்தான நிலை:
இந்தச் சாலை இப்படி இருக்குறதால எங்க குழந்தைகளை தனியாக விடவே பயமா இருக்கு. எங்களுக்கு இதை விட்டா வேற வழியே இல்லை.
இந்தச் சாலையைக் கடந்துதான் நாங்க பேருந்து நிலையத்திற்குப் போகணும். இப்படி உடைஞ்சு கிடக்குற சாக்கடை சாலையை கடந்துதான் பிள்ளைங்க பள்ளிக்கூடங்களுக்குப் போயிட்டு வர்றாங்க.
தொற்று ஏற்படும் அபாயம்:
அதுமட்டுமல்லாம இந்தச் சாக்கடை திறந்த வெளியில் இருக்குறதால, கொசு தொல்லையும், மழை பெய்தால் வர்ற துர்நாற்றமும் நோய் பரவல் பாதிப்பை ஏற்படுத்திடுமோன்னு பிள்ளைகளை வெச்சுட்டு பயந்துகிட்டு இருக்கோம். இது குறித்து எங்க பகுதி கவுன்சிலர் நாகராஜன் கிட்ட கோரிக்கை வெச்சுருக்கோம். அவரும் உடனடியாக நடவடிக்கை எடுக்குறதா சொல்லிருக்காரு. இனியும் அதிகாரிங்க அலட்சியம் காட்டாம உடனே உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கணும்” என்றனர்.
