India registered a superb 9-wicket victory in the third ODI against Afghanistan.
In the match played in Chennai today, Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat first. The Afghanistan batters struggled right from the start. The team was in trouble at 36 runs, having lost 4 wickets.
Among the later batters, Hashmatullah Shahidi scored a century (102) and Azmatullah Omarzai scored a half-century (50), helping the team’s total rise. Seven players in the team were dismissed after scoring in single digits, causing a shock.
Afghanistan were all out for just 218 runs in 44.2 overs. For India, Prasidh Krishna took 5 wickets. Chasing the target, India scored 224 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 28.4 overs and won the match.
Opening batter Jaiswal scored 110 runs and remained unbeaten till the end. The other opener, Rohit Sharma, was dismissed for 70 runs. With this victory, India completed a 3-0 whitewash in the ODI series.
