In the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election, the DMK party faced defeat, while the AIADMK emerged as the single largest party winning the most seats. However, AIADMK did not secure enough seats to form a majority government. Out of the total 234 constituencies, a party needs to win 118 seats on its own to form a majority government. Vijay-Rahul Gandhi's AIADMK won only 108 seats as a single party. Since the party did not secure the required majority seats, there were reports that AIADMK sought support from Congress. Officially, Congress has announced that it will support the AIADMK to form the government.
In this context, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said, "The people of Tamil Nadu have voted. They have voted for change. But the people have not given a clear majority to anyone. They have given more seats to one party. They have given 108 seats. Specifically, they have voted for the leader of that party, Vijay. They have voted for a government to be formed under his leadership. Currently, Vijay has sought our support. Karti Chidambaram said that everyone in our party has collectively supported Thangam Thennarasu to form a secular government. Before the election, parties will be in a certain position."

ஒரு கட்சிக்கு அதிக இடங்களை வழங்கியிருக்கிறார்கள். 108 இடங்களைக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார்கள். குறிப்பாக அந்தக் கட்சியின் தலைவர் விஜய்க்கு வாக்களித்திருக்கிறார்கள். அவர் தலைமையில் ஆட்சி அமைய வேண்டும் என்று வாக்களித்திருக்கிறார்கள். தற்போது எங்களின் ஆதரவை விஜய் கேட்டிருந்தார்.
