வைகோவுக்காக அதுவரை திமுகவில் இருந்த நொச்சிப்பட்டி தண்டபாணி, உப்பிலியாபுரம் வீரப்பன், மேலப்பாளையம் ஜஹாங்கீர், கோவை பாலன் உள்ளிட்ட தொண்டர்கள் சிலர் தீக்குளித்தனர்.
எல்.கணேசன், செஞ்சி ராமச்சந்திரன், பொன் முத்து ராமலிங்கம் முதலான திமுகவின் முக்கிய முகங்கள் வைகோவுடன் கரம் கோர்த்தனர்.

திமுக – தமாக அணி, அதிமுக –காங்கிரஸ் கூட்டணி, இரண்டும்தான் பலமான அணிகள். வாழ்ப்பாடி ராமமூர்த்தி, ராமதாஸ் ஆகியோர் அணி சேர்ந்து ஒரு அணியை உருவாக்கி இருந்தனர்.
முதல் தேர்தலை சந்திக்கும் மதிமுக மார்சிஸ்ட் கம்யூனிஸ்ட், ஜனதா கட்சி என சில கட்சிகளைச் சேர்த்துக் கொண்டு தனி அணியாக களம் இறங்கியது.
தூத்துக்குடி மாவட்டம் விளாத்திகுளம் தொகுதியைத் தேர்வு செய்தார் வைகோ. வைகோவின் அறிவிப்பு வெளியானது முதலே விளாத்திகுளம் விஐபி தொகுதியாகி விட்டது.
பல்வேறு சமூக மக்கள் வசித்து வந்தாலும் ரெட்டியார் மற்றும் நாயக்கர்கள் சமூகமே வெற்றியை தீர்மானிக்கும் இடத்திலிருக்கிற தொகுதி. வைகோ நாயக்கர்கள் ஓட்டை நம்பியே களமிறங்கினார். திமுகவில் ரவிசங்கர் என்ற இளைஞரை நிறுத்தினார்கள். ரெட்டியார் சமூகத்தைச் சேர்ந்த இவரது பூர்வீகம் இந்தப் பகுதிதான் என்றாலும் சென்னையில் வசித்து வந்தார். அதிமுகவும் ரெட்டியார் இனத்தைச் சேர்ந்த வேட்பாளரை நிறுத்த அவர்களின் ஓட்டுகள் பிரியுமென நம்பினார் வைகோ.
தேர்தல் முடிந்து ரிசல்ட் நாளும் வந்தது. தமிழகம் முழுக்க வீசிய ஜெ., எதிர்ப்பு அலை புதிய கட்சியான மதிமுகவையும் சேர்த்தே சுருட்டியது. வைகோவையும் விட்டு வைக்கவில்லை அந்த அலை. சுமார் 600 ஓட்டுகள் வித்தியாசத்தில் தோல்வியடைந்தார் வைகோ.

ஜெயித்ததும் கூட்டுறவு சங்கத் தலைவராகவும் தேர்வான ரவிசங்கர் பொதுமக்களின் பணத்தைச் சுருட்டி ஊழல் செய்து கைதானதெல்லாம் நடந்தது.
தொடர்ந்து போதை மருந்து கடத்தல் நெட் ஒர்க்குடன் அவருக்கு தொடர்பு இருந்ததாக செய்திகள் வெளியாகின. கைதாகி நீதிமன்றத்துக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்ற வழியில் போலீஸ் கண்ணீல் மண்ணைத் தூவி விட்டுத் தப்பி ஓடினார். சென்னையில் பகலில் ஒரு வீட்டில் வருமான வரி அதிகாரியாக நடித்து கொள்ளை அடிக்க முயன்று போலீஸில் மாட்டினார்.
இப்படி நீண்டன அவரது கிரைம் ரெக்கார்டுகள். தற்போது அவர் மீதான வழக்குகள் என்னவானது? ஆள் எங்கே இருக்கிறார் என்பதே தெரியவில்லை.
