DMK leader and former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said that on any issue, whether it is the NEET exemption or state rights, the TVK government can function only by following the DMK.
A DMK women’s wing consultative meeting was held on Saturday at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai. Speaking at the meeting, DMK leader Stalin said:
I had said whether a government can function without even being criticized for six months. But some people twisted that and began spreading that it was a conspiracy to topple the TVK government. I have said this many times. Let me say it once again, clearly and emphatically. The DMK will firmly carry out its duty as a responsible and vigilant opposition party.
We will continue to point out the failures of this government. Can we just watch sexual violence against women and murders happen and not criticize them? We can give them time to fulfill their promises. But how can we remain silent about the safety of the people?
Before the election, Chief Minister Joseph Vijay spoke about women’s safety at every meeting. But today, there is a situation where women have to be protected from members of the TVK. The Chief Minister Vijay is not concerned about all that. He is busy thinking about how to buy AIADMK MLAs. Does he himself have no confidence in his government? Or does he have no confidence in the other parties that support him? It is not clear.
When we look at all this, it is clearly understood that Chief Minister Vijay is doing in Tamil Nadu what the BJP does in other states. What is happening in Tamil Nadu is a government that turns democracy into a mockery.
This is not a movie...: At the recent NITI Aayog meeting held in Delhi under the Prime Minister’s leadership, Chief Minister Vijay spoke about some of the demands we had made for Tamil Nadu’s rights during the DMK regime, as well as the achievements. I welcome that. At the same time, when I was Chief Minister, when I went to Delhi and spoke in a similar manner, Vijay said that I went to Delhi to escape from the Enforcement Directorate case.
