Police have begun an investigation into the bomb threat received at Kannur Airport.
Police said that on Saturday, an email was sent to various email addresses of the Kannur International Airport in Kerala, as well as to the email addresses of two airlines, threatening to bomb the airport.
It stated that the airport would be blown up with a bomb and that explosives had been planted for this purpose. Following this, intensive searches were carried out at the airport and on the concerned flights.
After the test, it was confirmed that the threat was merely a rumor. Officials said on Sunday that, based on a complaint filed by the airport assistant manager, the police had registered a case under various sections and begun an investigation.
Officials further noted that since the threat email was sent from a Gmail account, the police, who have begun efforts to identify the culprit, have also sought the help of Google. This caused some commotion at the airport yesterday.
