The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is struggling to conclude the constituency allocation talks because the Liberation Panthers Party and the Marxist Communist parties continue to refuse to sign the alliance agreement. After the third round of talks with the DMK, CPM state secretary P. Sanmugam met the journalists and recorded their grievances, saying, "They have said that it is difficult to allocate as many constituencies as you expect because new parties have joined the alliance, but amidst this difficulty, the DMK will be given more constituencies, as reported by the media and news." Although not yet spoken publicly, the VCK also shares this view. In the last assembly election, the DMK contested in 60 seats and received 200,157 votes, which amounts to only 0.4% if considered as a vote bank.

நம்மிடம் பேசிய வி.சி.க முன்னணி நிர்வாகிகள், “தே.மு.தி.க-வுக்கு அதிகமாகக் கொடுத்து, வி.சி.க., கம்யூனிஸ்ட்டுகளுக்கு தொகுதிகளை குறைத்துக் கொடுக்க முன்வந்தால் கூட்டணிக்குள் வருத்தம் உண்டாவதைத் தவிர்க்க முடியாது. அண்மையில் தேமுதிக பொதுச் செயலாளர் பிரேமலதா அவர்களும், `திமுக எங்களிடம் தொகுதிகளை குறைக்க சொல்ல கேட்கவில்லை’ என்று பேசினார்.
எண்ணிக்கைக்காக எங்கள் கூட்டணி உடையாது என்றாலும் தொண்டர்கள் ஒருங்கிணைந்து பணியாற்றுவதில் எக்கச்சக்க பிரச்னைகள் வரும். அதிலும் தே.மு.தி.க கூட்டணியை உறுதி செய்தவற்கு முன்பு எங்களிடம் கையெழுத்து வாங்குவதில் தி.மு.க குறியாக இருப்பது பல்வேறு சந்தேகங்களை எழுப்புகிறது. ஆகையால் முதலில் தே.மு.தி.க கையெழுத்துப் போடட்டும் என எங்களை தலைமையிடம் சொல்லியிருக்கிறோம்” என்றனர்.
