Shigella bacterial infection is spreading rapidly in Kerala. In Wayanad district, infection has been confirmed in 7 new children.
Regarding this, Wayanad District Medical Officer K.T. Rekha said, “Shigella infection has been confirmed in 7 new people. With this, the number of affected children in the district has increased to 16.
Children showing symptoms of Shigella infection should stay away from others. Precautionary measures must be taken to prevent the infection from spreading to other children. The public must strictly follow the precautionary and preventive guidelines issued by the Health Department in this matter,” he said.
Meanwhile, according to data from the Kerala Directorate of Health Services, 24 people have died in the state from various infectious diseases since June 1 so far, 38 people have been confirmed to have Shigella, and one person has died.
It is reported that since January 1, Shigella infection has been confirmed in 114 people, and 2 people have died. It is also stated that in Kerala, 2,161 people were confirmed to have chikungunya in the past month, and 2 people died.
Shigella infection can spread through contaminated food, water, and from those already infected. It is noteworthy that those affected by this infection may experience vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain.

கேரளத்தில் ஷிகெல்லா பாக்டீரியா தொற்று வேகமாகப் பரவுகிறது. வயநாடு மாவட்டத்தில் புதிதாக 7 சிறாா்களுக்கு தொற்று இருப்பது உறுதி செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இதுகுறித்து வயநாடு மாவட்ட மருத்துவ அதிகாரி கே.டி. ரேகா கூறுகையில், ‘புதிதாக 7 பேருக்கு ஷிகெல்லா தொற்று உறுதி செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதன்மூலம் மாவட்டத்தில் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட சிறாா்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 16-ஆக அதிகரித்துள்ளது.
ஷிகெல்லா தொற்று அறிகுறி இருக்கும் சிறாா்கள், மற்றவா்களிடம் இருந்து ஒதுங்கி இருக்க வேண்டும். பிற சிறாா்களுக்கு அந்தத் தொற்று பரவாமல் தடுக்கும் வகையில் முன்னெச்சரிக்கை நடவடிக்கையை எடுக்க வேண்டும். இந்த விவகாரத்தில் சுகாதாரத் துறை வெளியிட்டுள்ள முன்னெச்சரிக்கை, தடுப்பு வழிமுறைகளை பொதுமக்கள் கண்டிப்பாக கடைப்பிடிக்க வேண்டும்’ என்றாா்.
இந்நிலையில், கேரள சுகாதார சேவைகள் இயக்குநரகத்தின் தரவுகள்படி, பல்வேறு வகை தொற்று நோய்கள் மூலம் ஜூன் 1-ஆம் தேதியிலிருந்து இதுவரை மாநிலத்தில் 24 போ் உயிரிழந்ததாகவும், 38 பேருக்கு ஷிகெல்லா உறுதிப்படுத்தப்பட்டிருப்பதாகவும், ஒருவா் உயிரிழந்ததாகவும் தெரிகிறது.
ஜனவரி 1-ஆம் தேதியிலிருந்து இதுவரை 114 பேருக்கு ஷிகெல்லா தொற்று உறுதி செய்யப்பட்டிருப்பதாகவும், 2 போ் உயிரிழந்ததிருப்பதாகவும் தெரியவருகிறது. மேலும், கேரளத்தில் கடந்த ஒரு மாதத்தில் 2,161 பேருக்கு சிக்குன் குனியா உறுதி செய்யப்பட்டு இருப்பதாகவும், 2 போ் இறந்ததாகவும் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
ஷிகெல்லா தொற்று என்பது அசுத்தமான உணவுகள், நீா் மூலமும், ஏற்கெனவே பாதித்தோரிடம் இருந்தும் பரவக் கூடியதாகும். இந்தத் தொற்றால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டோருக்கு வாந்தி, வயிற்றுப்போக்கு, காய்ச்சல், வயிற்று வலி ஏற்படும் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
