Chennai: The Chennai POCSO Special Court has sentenced a 62-year-old man to 5 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually harassing a 6-year-old girl in Chennai by giving her chocolate.
On Dec. 6, 2020, a 62-year-old man named Deiva Nayagam, who lived in the same apartment complex, sexually harassed the 6-year-old daughter of a couple living in Chennai by giving her chocolate. When the girl screamed, the elderly man fled the scene.
Based on the complaint filed by the girl’s parents in this regard, the Kilpauk All Women Police registered a case and arrested Deiva Nayagam.
Rs. 2 lakh compensation: This case was heard in the Chennai POCSO Special Court before Judge S. Padma. On behalf of the government, Special Public Prosecutor S. Anitha appeared and argued for 5 years for the accused. Following this, the judge sentenced the accused to rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 2,000. The judge also ordered the Tamil Nadu government to pay Rs. 2 lakh as compensation to the affected girl.

கடந்த 2020 டிச.6 அன்று சென்னையில் வசிக்கும் தம்பதியின் 6 வயது மகளுக்கு, அதே குடியிருப்பில் வசிக்கும் 62 வயதான தெய்வ நாயகம் என்பவர் சாக்லேட் கொடுத்து பாலியல் ரீதியாக துன்புறுத்தியுள்ளார். சிறுமி கூச்சலிட்டதால் முதியவர் அங்கிருந்து தப்பியுள்ளார்.
இது தொடர்பாக சிறுமியின் பெற்றோர் அளித்த புகாரின் பேரில் கீழ்ப்பாக்கம் அனைத்து மகளிர் போலீஸார் வழக்குப் பதிவு செய்து தெய்வ நாயகத்தை கைது செய்தனர்.
ரூ.2 லட்சம் இழப்பீடு: இந்த வழக்கு விசாரணை சென்னை போக்சோ சிறப்பு நீதிமன்றத்தில் நீதிபதி எஸ்.பத்மா முன்பாக நடந்தது. அரசு தரப்பில் சிறப்பு குற்றவியல் வழக்கறிஞர் எஸ்.அனிதா ஆஜராகி நாயகத்துக்கு 5 ஆண்டுகள் வாதிட்டார். அதையடுத்து குற்றம்சாட்டப்பட்ட தெய்வ கடுங்காவல் சிறை தண்டனை மற்றும் ரூ.2 ஆயிரம் அபராதம் விதித்து நீதிபதி தீர்ப்பளித்தார். மேலும், பாதிக்கப்பட்ட சிறுமிக்கு இழப்பீடாக தமிழக அரசு ரூ. 2 லட்சம் வழங்க வேண்டும் என்றும் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார்.
