A. Shanmugam is contesting as the DMK candidate in the Arur constituency of Dharmapuri district. His uniqueness lies in having held local government responsibilities for 15 years and being easily accessible to the people of the area. "To renovate the Eechampadi Anai Kattai,"
By supplying surface water through pipelines to 66 lakes, I will ensure the livelihood of farmers. This will also solve the groundwater shortage. The drinking water problem will be resolved as well. “பஞ்சாயத்து தலைவராகவும், மாவட்ட கவுன்சிலராகவும் 15 வருடங்கள் பொதுப்பணி செய்திருக்கிறேன். கூப்பிட்ட குரலுக்கு ஓடிச் சென்று, பல வகைகளிலும் என்னாலான உதவிகளைச் செய்து கொடுத்திருக்கிறேன். அவப்பெயரோ, குற்றச்சாட்டோ எதுவுமில்லை. மக்களோடு ஒருவனாக இருக்கும் என்னைப் பேரன்புடன் வரவேற்று, உதயசூரியனுக்கு வாக்களிப்பதை உறுதி செய்கிறார்கள்.”
எதிரணி வேட்பாளர்கள் குறித்து என்ன சொல்ல விரும்புகிறீர்கள்?
“ஏற்கெனவே எம்.எல்.ஏ-வாக தேர்வாகி 7 ஆண்டு காலம் தொகுதிக்கு எதையுமே செய்யாத நபருக்கே அ.தி.மு.க-வில் சீட் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார்கள். அவங்க கட்சிக்குள்ளேயே பலத்த அதிருப்தி இருக்கு. அதனாலும்தான் சொல்கிறேன், எனக்கு வெற்றி வாய்ப்பு அமோகமா இருக்கு.”
தொகுதி மக்களுக்கு உங்க தேர்தல் வாக்குறுதிகளில் முக்கியமானவை என்ன?
“ஈச்சம்பாடி அணைக்கட்டைச் சீரமைத்து, உபரிநீரை குழாய்கள் மூலம் 66 ஏரிகளுக்கு எடுத்துச் செல்வதன் மூலம் விவசாயிகளின் வாழ்வாதாரத்துக்கு உத்தரவாதம் கிடைக்கச் செய்வேன். நிலத்தடி நீர் தட்டுப்பாடும் இதனால் தீரும். குடிநீர்ப் பிரச்னையும் தீரும். வேலைவாய்ப்புகளை உருவாக்குவதற்காக தொழிற்பேட்டைகள் கொண்டு வர பாடுபடுவேன்.” என்றவர், முத்தாய்ப்பாகச் சொன்னது “பிரசாரத்துக்கு செல்லும் வழியில், இப்போதே என்னை எம்.எல்.ஏ-வாக ஏற்றுக்கொண்டிருக்கும் மக்கள் சில கோரிக்கை மனுக்களையும் கொடுக்கிறார்கள். இதைவிட வேறென்ன உத்தரவாதம் வேண்டும்ஞ் அரூரில் உதயசூரியன் மலர!”
