The Higher Education Department has announced that students who studied diploma courses in polytechnic colleges will be given a special opportunity to write their old arrear subjects.
In this regard, the government order issued by Higher Education Department Secretary Arun Roy states:
Students who completed the polytechnic engineering diploma course and, after exhausting the opportunities given to appear for the examinations, still have pending subjects (arrears) without passing were given special opportunities to take the exams in the years 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2025.
In this situation, although special opportunities have been provided in polytechnic colleges, students who have arrears because they have not passed the semester examinations are reportedly requesting that they be given another chance in the upcoming semester examinations. Considering the welfare of those students, the Chairman of the Board of Technical Examinations has requested the government to issue a government order fixing the appropriate examination fee and allowing about 2,000 students who have had arrears for a long time to write the examinations through a special opportunity only during the October 2026 and April 2027 semester examinations.
Accepting his request, the government orders that around 2,000 students who have completed the polytechnic diploma course but have not passed the subjects will be given a special opportunity to appear for examinations only during the October and April 2027 semester examinations.
It is stated therein that, for this special opportunity for those students, approval is granted by fixing the registration fee at Rs. 750, the consolidated mark sheet certificate fee at Rs. 40, the application fee at Rs. 20, and the examination fee at Rs. 65 per subject.
