Chennai: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Manickam Tagore has responded to DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran, saying that the Congress party is firm in its stance that the southern states, which have implemented family planning effectively, should not be punished, and that he should stop engaging in petty politics by spreading half-baked information.
Regarding this, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Manickam Tagore, in a post on his X account, said, “Dayanidhi Maran speaking without knowing the truth, or knowingly distorting it, is not political ethics. What Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy proposed was not the BJP’s population-based delimitation.
He emphasized the “hybrid model,” under which the state’s economic contribution (GSDP) and development should be taken into account in a 50:50 ratio, so that “the developed South Indian states that have effectively implemented family planning should not lose their parliamentary representation.” This is a voice to protect the rights of South Indian states.
We oppose the population-based, one-sided delimitation that the BJP is eager to introduce in a way that betrays all of South India and favors the northern states; we see this as a betrayal of South India.
Whether it is Telangana or Tamil Nadu, the All India Congress Party is firm that the southern states, which have successfully implemented family planning, should never be punished.
Instead of spreading half-baked information for political gain and engaging in petty politics, have you decided that you will not come together as one to fight for the rights of the southern states and as Tamil Nadu’s voice, and to defeat the BJP’s conspiracy?” he posted.
Earlier, it is noteworthy that DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran had raised the question, “Why the drama of saying constituency delimitation should not happen only in Tamil Nadu? If so, why was such an MPs’ meeting not held in the four states ruled by Congress?”
