New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh, who shared a picture of Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi with a woman and a boy on a boat, has asked who they are. Congress has responded to his question with an explanation and has strongly criticized him for asking it.
Giriraj Singh shared Rahul’s photo on his X page and wrote, “Where was this photo taken, Rahul ji? When was it taken? I am interested in knowing who the people with you are.” Rahul Gandhi’s foreign trips are always a regular target of BJP criticism.
In this situation, Rahul’s 3-week foreign trip in the months of June and July has also come under the BJP’s criticism.
It is still not confirmed whether the picture shared by Giriraj Singh was taken during Rahul’s recent trip. In the picture, a woman is seen wearing a scarf on her head and sunglasses. There is also a boy. He is wearing swimwear and is seated between Rahul and that woman.
Congress clarification:
Amid the uproar over this photograph of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress has issued a clarification.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said about this, “The woman in the photograph is the wife of Rahul Gandhi’s friend, and the boy is the friend’s son. Rahul’s friend is not in that photograph. They all went on vacation together.”
She also strongly criticized Giriraj Singh, saying, “The moment you see a man and a woman together, people like you start having such vile thoughts.”
Meanwhile, Overseas Congress social media in-charge Avi Dandia said, “This photograph was taken at Ray Roberts Lake in Texas. You can verify whether this is true.”
BJP raises doubts:
Since Rahul Gandhi returned to the country after completing a foreign trip just a few days before the monsoon session of Parliament was set to begin, the BJP has been raising various questions about it.
In an X post shared last month by BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya, he asked, “Rahul Gandhi’s foreign trip from June 22 to July 13 remains mysterious. Where did he go? Whom did he meet? Who paid for his travel and accommodation expenses?”
Furthermore, Amit Malviya had said that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha’s foreign contacts “raise doubts about whether these meetings have any influence on his political or strategic preferences.”
Similarly, Mumbai BJP president Amit Satam has criticized, “During his foreign trips, Rahul Gandhi met India’s enemies. He returned having already decided to create chaos in the country.”
Earlier, the BJP also released statistics on Rahul’s foreign trips. In it, it said that Rahul Gandhi undertook 54 foreign trips, including to “London, New York, Italy, Germany, Qatar, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Maldives, and Dubai.” It also said that he had secretly visited Oman once.
Not only that, there is a huge discrepancy between Rahul Gandhi’s declared assets and his foreign travel. The BJP also says that Rahul Gandhi has spent Rs. 60 crore on foreign trips.
