At the funeral of a man who died in an old age home in Sonipat, Haryana, all three of his daughters attended via video call.
In Haryana, a man named Shivcharan Ram Rattan Gupta had been living in an old age home for about two years. Shivcharan, who worked in the textile business, educated his three daughters, and all three are now married and living in different places in Nepal, Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai. The three of them had been in frequent contact with their father Shivcharan by phone.
The residents of the old-age home say that Shivasharan had said he had devoted himself entirely to his daughters’ education, ensured that they received a good education, and took pride in their achievements.
Meanwhile, Shivasharan’s health deteriorated. Following this, his daughters spoke to him less frequently.
It was in this situation that Shivasharan’s health worsened and he died on Tuesday (Aug. 4). Although all three of Shivasharan’s daughters were informed of his death, they said they did not have time to travel and would not be able to attend the funeral.
Moreover, the three daughters said that the old-age home itself should conduct the funeral rites. One of them also sent an amount of Rs. 5,100 to the old-age home for their father Sivasaran’s cremation. In addition, all three said that they wanted to see their father being cremated via video call.
Following this, with the help of local residents, the management of the old-age home cremated Sivasaran’s body. When Sivasaran’s cremation was shown on a video call, one of the daughters is also heard saying, "How much longer will this take? We need to eat and bathe."
Following this, when Shivasharan’s daughters asked for his ashes, they said that since they would not be able to come to Haryana later for this purpose, the ashes should be immersed in the Ganga. However, Shivasharan’s eyes were donated.
