3 prisoners died and more than 23 were injured in separate clashes at 2 prisons in Sri Lanka.

In a clash at the Kuruvita prison, 60 km from Colombo, on Friday, 2 prisoners died. Similarly, one prisoner died after around 40 inmates were involved in a riot at Colombo’s Magazine Prison on Thursday night.

In addition, at Pallansena Prison, 30 inmates climbed onto the roof and staged a protest, after which the army and police were deployed and the situation was brought under control.

Earlier, 33 people died in the riot that broke out at Negombo Prison at the beginning of last month. Human rights organizations accuse the severe overcrowding in Sri Lankan prisons of being the cause of such repeated violence.

Iran criticism: Iran has strongly criticized this collective security agreement.

In an ‘X’ post released by Ebrahim Rezaei, a member of Iran’s parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, he said, ‘Just as the unilateral exploitation by the Americans over many years has not provided security, this agreement with Turkey and Pakistan will also not provide any security to Saudi Arabia. To avoid the situation of begging others for security, Saudi Arabia must change its policies.’
