In Uganda, an East African country, 14 people were killed and 4 others injured in an accident involving a passenger van and a truck carrying sand.
All 14 of those who died in the horrific crash, which occurred on the highway in the Kamunga trading center area of Kalungu district last Monday night, were passengers in the van.
The 4 seriously injured people were rescued and admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Soon after the accident, the truck driver fled the scene, and police have intensified efforts to track him down.
In African countries including Uganda, road accidents have become a recurring story due to poor roads, speeding, and poorly maintained vehicles. Last month, it is noteworthy that 20 children and the head teacher died in a bus accident in eastern Uganda when a primary school bus returning from an educational trip overturned.
