Rajendran and Senthilselvan, the party’s MLAs, said today (Aug. 5) that MDMK general secretary Vaiko had pressured them to resign from their legislative assembly seats.
In the MDMK, Rajendran won from the Kadayanallur constituency and Senthilselvan won from the Sirkazhi constituency, both contesting on the Rising Sun symbol. As a result, MDMK has 2 legislative assembly members.
Since the formation of the TVK government in Tamil Nadu, Vaiko has been extending his full support to TVK. In this situation, the party’s MLAs Rajendran and Senthilselvan have said that Vaiko pressured them to resign from their posts.
In this regard, both of them addressed the press together and said:
''Vaiko is pressuring both of us, who contested and won on the Rising Sun symbol from the MDMK, to resign from our posts. This has caused us great distress.
For having worked for 40 years without worrying about anything, the reward we received was only blame. Vaiko made tempting promises, saying we would join the ruling party alliance, be given another chance to contest, and also get ministerial posts.
We wish to continue as DMK legislative assembly members of the Dravidian movement we have loved since childhood.
We were forced to resign from our MLA posts in the MDMK. They spread slander against us, saying we had sold out.
We will continue our work with the satisfaction of having fulfilled the wishes of the people who voted for us. We express our gratitude to Vaiko and our MDMK friends for bringing us into public life," Rajendran said.
