“As Iran faces economic crises and sanctions because of the war with the United States, unity and coordination among the country’s leaders and people are essential,” Iran’s top cleric Mojtaba Khamenei has emphasized.
Amid reports that differences of opinion are prevailing among Iran’s leaders, President Masoud Pezeshkian said he held a seven-hour consultation with Mojtaba Khamenei and that during the meeting he stressed the above view. However, he did not disclose details of when or where this important meeting took place.
Moreover, in an interview with Iranian state television on Monday regarding this meeting, President Masoud Pezeshkian further said: Mojtaba Khamenei emphasized that all the enemies’ plans are aimed solely at creating division among us; preventing divisions from arising is our main task.
He said that we also discussed in detail people’s livelihoods, market conditions, employment, housing, and the problems currently arising due to the United States’ economic sanctions.
In an airstrike carried out by the joint forces of the United States and Israel on Feb. 28 in Iran’s capital, Tehran, Supreme Religious Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. Following this, his son Mojtaba Khamenei took over as the new Supreme Religious Leader in March. This is the second meeting since then that is believed to have been held between President Masoud Pezeshkian and Mojtaba Khamenei.
It is noteworthy that Mojtaba Khamenei, who was seriously injured in the same attack that killed his father, has not appeared in public since taking over as Supreme Religious Leader.
