DMK organizing secretary R.S. Bharathi, speaking out against the arrest of opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin, has asked, “Is Trisha the Prime Minister?”
At a DMK protest held in Thanjavur, Udhayanidhi, the opposition leader, was arrested and taken to Thanjavur in connection with complaints filed over his alleged harsh criticism of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and women.
Speaking in protest against this arrest, R.S. Bharathi said:
Since coming to power in Tamil Nadu, has he achieved anything worthwhile? He changed all the names that were put in place during the DMK regime. Only today is an MLA being released from prison. Before that, he is sending even the Leader of the Opposition inside. What I wonder is whether he wants to arrest all the DMK MLAs if they stage a protest in the Assembly, lock them all up, and then play ball in an empty ground. His wish will not come true. The DMK will devise the necessary strategies. We will meet in the Assembly and in the court of public opinion.
TVK has announced a protest for tomorrow over this incident. Let that protest take place. After that, DMK members will also speak on every stage about who that particular person is and what connection he has with the country. We also have speakers. If we start speaking, Vijay will not be able to bear it.
It is DMK that has legally conducted and won even bigger struggles than this. Farmers are dying. No protest has been held about that. This is a government that has no way to hold a protest against the central government. If they say they will stage a protest or demonstration for some actress and speak about it, we will expose it completely.
When people in the gathering asked, “Will water come only to Trisha’s house?” Udhayanidhi Stalin said that it would come only there. What does that mean? Is that some huge crime? I’m asking for the sake of argument. Even if someone speaks about Trisha, why is there an immediate need to arrest them? Is she the Prime Minister? Or the Chief Minister?
R.S. Bharathi said that if DMK members start speaking on stage, many things will come out into the open.
