The wife of Veera (a.k.a.) Veerasamy, the Mambakkam panchayat council chairman who was removed from TVK for allegedly taking a bribe from a contractor, has been given a party post.
Veera, the Mambakkam TVK panchayat council chairman and the party’s East Chengalpattu district joint secretary, received Rs. 1 lakh via GPay and another Rs. 30,000 in cash in person from a contractor named Naveen.
As video footage related to this went viral on the internet, Veera was removed from his party post, and the police arrested him.
In this situation, the fact that the district joint secretary post of the party, which Veera had been holding, has been given to his wife, V. Hemavathi, has sparked controversy.
In a statement issued by TVK leader and Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, it has been announced that V. Hemavathi has been appointed as the East Chengalpattu district joint secretary.
Since Veera’s wife, V. Hemavathi, also appeared in the video of Veera taking a bribe from a contractor, the decision to give the removed husband’s post to his wife has come under criticism.
