Mumbai: Due to the unstable talks between Iran and Oman regarding the Hormuz Strait, the Indian rupee rose by up to 2 paise against the dollar on Friday to Rs. 95.22.
Foreign exchange traders said that uncertainty over the agreement between Iran and Oman, along with the sudden rise in crude oil prices in a single day, caused investors in the global market to become anxious.
In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 95.27 against the dollar and later traded in the range of 95.19 to 95.28. In the end, it settled at 95.20, up 2 paise from the previous close.
In yesterday’s trading, the Indian rupee fell by 14 paise and closed at 95.22 against the dollar.
