Teacher and student numbers inflated, causing financial loss to the government: 4 years’ imprisonment for the school correspondent and headmaster

In a case involving inflating the number of students in a school, increasing the number of teachers, and causing financial loss to the government under the midday meal scheme, the Ranipet District and Sessions Court judge sentenced the school correspondent and the headmaster to four years’ imprisonment each and imposed a fine.

During an inspection conducted on 27.08.2012 by officials of the Vellore Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption at the VRV Government-Aided Primary School in Ranipet, it was found that fake documents had been prepared and records had been created showing that 259 students were studying there, which was 187 more than the actual number of students.

Through this, by fraudulently obtaining 6 teacher posts and also improperly receiving various government benefits, including the midday meal scheme, a case was filed accusing them of causing a loss to the government of Rs. 4,67,121 as teacher salaries and Rs. 2,762 under the midday meal scheme, totaling Rs. 4,69,883.

In this case, in the judgment delivered by Judge V. Thenmozhi of the Principal District and Sessions Court in Ranipet district, since the charges were proven, school correspondent Karunakar Sanjivi Das was sentenced to 4 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs. 35,000, while school headmistress Alice Tabitha Vijayakumari was sentenced to 4 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs. 40,000.

Furthermore, in his judgment, he acquitted and ruled in favor of Walajah Circle Assistant Elementary Education Officer Poongothai, who had been accused in this case.

In this case, Rameshkumar appeared as the government advocate for the Tamil Nadu government.

இதன் மூலம் 6 ஆசிரியா் பணியிடங்களை முறைகேடாகப் பெற்று, மதிய உணவு திட்டம் உள்ளிட்ட அரசின் பல்வேறு சலுகைகளையும் தவறான முறையில் பெற்ால் அரசுக்கு ஆசிரியா் ஊதியமாக ரூ. 4,67,121 மற்றும் மதிய உணவுத் திட்டத்தில் ரூ. 2,762-ஆக மொத்தம் ரூ. 4, 69, 883 இழப்பு ஏற்படுத்தியதாக குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்டு வழக்கு தொடரப்பட்டது.
