The Chennai High Court today (Aug. 5) ordered the Tasmac administration to issue receipts for all liquor sold at all Tasmac shops in Tamil Nadu.
G. Devarajan of Chennai filed a petition in the Chennai High Court seeking an order to register cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act against employees who sold liquor at inflated prices at Tasmac liquor shops in 30 locations across Chennai and its surrounding areas.
The hearing on this petition came up before Judge G.K. Ilanthiraiyan today.
The TASMAC administration stated that 5 of the shops pointed out by the petitioner had been closed, and that a shop-wise report had been filed regarding the stock and sales register for the remaining shops.
After examining the report, the judge pointed out that receipt books were not being maintained in TASMAC shops and that receipts were not being issued to consumers.
Further, the judge ordered the TASMAC administration to maintain receipt books in all TASMAC shops across Tamil Nadu.
The judge directed that this order be implemented and a report be filed, and adjourned the case to August 7.
