In the Tamil Nadu budget for the 2026–27 financial year, an announcement has been made that a new medical insurance scheme will be implemented for government employees.
The Tamil Nadu budget for the 2026–27 financial year was presented in the Assembly today. In the budget presented by the Tamil Nadu Finance Minister, the word “success” has been added to both the schemes that were already being implemented and the new schemes.

A new medical insurance scheme has been introduced for government employees.
The basic insurance coverage has been increased from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 7.5 lakh.
Insurance for specified illnesses will be provided up to Rs. 12 lakh.
Financial assistance of up to Rs. 15 lakh will be provided for rare diseases.
It has been announced that Rs. 838 crore has been allocated for 2,992 types of treatments and 1,535 empaneled hospitals for Tamil Nadu government employees.
