Reports have emerged that temples, mosques, gurdwaras, and many others are providing food and extending support to the Jharkhand student protest.
Hundreds of students and young people have been staging an indefinite protest at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi since July 25, alleging irregularities in the examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and for other appointments.
To support this protest, which has entered its 13th day, temples, mosques, gurdwaras, and individuals are providing food and support to the students camped in the central part of the capital.
Meanwhile, 6 protesters continue their indefinite hunger strike.
Despite the heavy rain that has been falling in the city over the past few days, thousands of students have been protesting with determination. As the students protesting at Jaipal Singh Stadium gather under temporary tarpaulin tents, community kitchens and individuals are providing them with hot meals without any religious distinction.
These scenes are reminiscent of those seen during the recent NEET protest in Delhi. People from across the country had ordered food online for those taking part in the protest at Jantar Mantar.
Accordingly, many people from the Sani temple, Pahadi temple, nearby mosques and gurudwaras have been providing food to the Jharkhand students’ protest. Many families from across the districts are sending us home-cooked food.
Students are also bringing food from their homes, student volunteer Ashutosh Lal, who has been distributing food at the protest site in Ranchi, told PTI.
